The Speak Up! Scholarship offers five awards of $2,000 each to rising high school juniors and seniors with a demonstrated passion for communications. This includes but is not limited to the following classes/clubs: journalism/mass communications, marketing/PR, yearbook, literary magazine, public speaking, visual communications. Majors and careers in the communications field can include but are not limited to journalism, photojournalism, writing, editing, publishing, marketing, public relations, and social media. To qualify, you must have a 3.5 GPA or higher. To apply, you must submit an essay, pictures/videos/media showing your leadership in action (optional), a headshot, a resume, a transcript, and an educator recommendation letter.

Yes! But make sure to read each scholarship application's essay guidelines and requirements, and personalize your essay to each scholarship you apply to. Using the same essay for multiple applications can be a time-saver, but changing just a sentence or two can make a difference!
To increase your chances of getting a scholarship, apply early, follow all application instructions, and write a great scholarship essay (if applicable)! For more help, ask a Mos advisor!
To prioritize your scholarship applications, think about which scholarships you have the best chance of getting (the most specific ones, with more than one winner), the ones due the soonest, and the ones that are awarding the most money.
