National SojournersOverview
National Sojourners, Inc. conducts an annual National essay contest for high school students. Prizes for 1st, 2nd and 3rd place include a plaque and cash prizes of $2000, $1000 and $500, respectively. Completed essays must be submitted through a local sponsoring chapter. If you're interested in applying go to the provider's website and click on your state (or a nearby state if there are no chapters in yours). Good luck!

Some scholarship organizations email all the applicants to let them know if they were selected or not, while others only contact the winners—it usually depends on the number of applicants.
