The Minority Fellowship Program (MFP) is designed for underrepresented minority students who are: Black/African American; Latino/a/x, American Indian or Alaskan Native; or Asian or Pacific Islander and enrolled in a program that grants the Ph.D. in sociology. You can be a citizen or non-citizen national of the United States, have been lawfully admitted to the United States for permanent residence, or be eligible under DACA. To apply, you need two essays and three recommendation letters.

A letter of recommendation (letter of rec) is a letter written by someone in your life who can speak to your achievements, positive traits, and potential. It's basically a summary of why you're great and deserve the scholarship or funding you're applying for! Typically, students ask teachers, mentors, coaches, or employers (never family or friends). FYI: You have to ask someone to write a letter of rec for you.
